Overview

The Engineers Australia’s Professional Year in Engineering program was developed by Engineering Education Australia (EEA) to equip international graduates of Australian universities with the skills and experience they need to start a successful career.

The program consists of training and an engineering internship placement to provide a pathway from study to employment in Australia.

Grading and assessments

To successfully complete this program participants are graded on classroom attendance and participation, assessment tasks and completion of the 12 week internship placement in their field of study.

Navitas is approved by Engineering Education Australia (EEA) to offer the DIBP gazetted Professional Year Program in Engineering in five states.

  • 100% attendance is required by DIBP and enforced by Navitas Professional
  • Our training and assessment practices are fully compliant under ASQA Standards for Registered Training Organisations
  • Navitas Professional Training Pty Ltd is a registered training organisation RTO: 21663
  • All Navitas Professional trainers hold a TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, hold a minimum of a Certificate IV in a relevant vocational qualification
  • All trainers are experienced working in the Australian workplace and provide excellence in teaching adults utilising best practice adult learning techniques
  • Business Development Coordinators interview all applicants to assess suitability for the program and internship placements
  • Internship Placement Coordinators perform a minimum of one workplace progress assessment during each internship
  • All Navitas Professional graduates are surveyed for student satisfaction on completion of the Professional Year Program to ensure continuous improvement

Am I eligible?

To qualify for the Engineers Australia’s Professional Year in Engineering Program, you must:

To qualify for the Engineers Australia’s Professional Year in Engineering Program, you must:

  • have completed an undergraduate or postgraduate award in Australia in Engineering
  • hold a valid skills assessment from Engineering Education Australia
  • hold or applied for a 485 visa (either stream) with at least 12 months validity or;
  • hold an eligible Secondary Visa with work and study rights with at least 12 months validity
  • have a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 with no band below 5, or equivalent

Offshore university graduates may be eligible to complete the Professional Year in Engineering on a 476 visa.
